The Leeds Compassionate City Awards, which aims to champion the unsung heroes of the city, took place last Thursday at the Leeds Civic Hall.
The awards spanned a wide range of categories, including Young Person of the Year, Art Project of the Year, and Learning Establishment of the Year.
This year’s ceremony also dedicated an award to the late Jo Cox. This particular award will be given to a group or individual who has gone above and beyond to unite and bring different communities together in Leeds.
The organisation behind the awards stated that their vision is “for Leeds to be the best city in the UK; one that is compassionate and caring with a strong economy, which tackles poverty and reduces inequalities” and went on to say that they want to build a city for their residents to be proud of.
Cllr Debra Coupar described this years awards as “a fantastic opportunity as a city to pass on our thanks for all their tremendous efforts”.
