In aid of World Kidney Day, a 5km run has been organised at the Brownlee Center in Leeds to help raise money and awareness for related charities.

Organised by Sam Swift and Dan Cherington, the cause is close to home as Sam has been diagnosed with Kidney disease and will suffer with it for the rest of her life because of a late diagnosis. Dan’s sister also suffered with the disease although cured now, he has seen how it impacts.

Despite the run being used to spread awareness the virtual run and donations have already raised around £1500.

Different to other charity runs, Trail Snail’s have incorporated the online world and made the run accessible to do virtually anywhere.

Sam explains, ‘the virtual run is for people who cant make it to Leeds because obviously not everyone’s local’. Once the race has been completed and sent via social media or email you will receive a medal via post.

This truly brings spreading awareness to a world wide level. Sam and Dan have allowed kidney disease survivors and members of the public alike to run the 5k regardless of their location.
