Leeds Beckett’s rugby union team showed their support for the LGBT community by wearing rainbow laces.

The colourful attire made their debut on Wednesday when Beckett played Exeter University.

The campaign, which first began in 2013, is being run by the charity Stonewall UK.

“We’re here to let all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, know they’re not alone.

“We believe we’re stronger united, so we partner with organisations that help us create real change for the better. We have laid deep foundations across Britain – in some of our greatest institutions – so our communities can continue to find ways to flourish, and individuals can reach their full potential” said Stonewall UK in an official press release.

During the first half Exeter were winning 7-0, but league leaders Beckett came out victorious with a final score of 21-10, leaving Headingley the much happier side.
