Run out of things to keep you entertained in the big city? We can help!

Thrilling as Leeds may be, there comes a time when acclaimed nightlife and shopping districts become a little tedious. There is more to Leeds than Pryzm, Trinity and the Corn Exchange – we can prove it.

We scoured the enigmatic streets for those hidden gems slightly diverted from the usual beaten path, and we found them. From The Royal Armouries, to Kirkstall, we left no stone unturned to make sure we delivered only the prime of Leeds.

This museum has six galleries showing a huge number of weapons from different eras in history. The displays are brilliant and very detailed. There are live demonstrations and videos which are very interactive, and an activity centre including activities such as a crossbow and arrow which is suitable for all family members. During the summer there are even more activities that include jousting amongst other things. The cafe, although pricey, is highly rated.

Roundhay Park is a few miles from the city centre and is easy to get to by car or bus. It covers 700 acres of parkland and includes restaurants, lakes, parkland and woodland. The park provides plenty of space for picnics with the addition of tables and benches. There is something for everyone: playing fields and tennis courts for the sport lovers and The Monet and Alhambra Gardens for peace and quiet.

Kirkstall Abbey is a beautiful ruin and is easy to get to by bus or car. This is the best preserved Cistercian Abbey in the country. Entry is free and there is a visitor centre and giftshop. The cafe serves good food for good value. Between March and November there is a market every weekend with over 40 unique stalls selling things from hand-made crafts and local produce.

The venue is quite small which is good if you’re seated at the front but not if you’re at the back. The seats aren’t set out too well and are a bit squashed but the quality of shows are excellent. The staff are very helpful and friendly and go out of their way to provide you with anything you need. The venue is centrally located and includes a bar serving food and drink at reasonable prices.

Tick Tock Unlock is an exciting real life escape game where the only goal is to escape from a locked room in 60 minutes or less by solving a series of puzzles, different clues, and working as a team to reveal the secrets and get out alive. The game is a great choice to enjoy a rainy day with family or friends while you learn how to communicate effectively, share ideas and work efficiently all together.
