“I have always lived in Leeds, I know this city like the back of my hand and know all the people here. I work here at the Leeds Kirkgate Markets, I have been here doing this sort of work for 17 years and then some months. I am here six days a week and it just means that I know everyone around here at the markets, and I’ll help them out with anything I can- I can do all sorts! I sell merchandise on the market stalls, I can garden, I’ve been a painter and decorator- and I can do farm work, I’m not afraid of cows and getting my hands dirty! You name it, I’ll do it. It can be very tough work, like. And it’s especially tough finding work since the new Victoria Quarter has been built here behind me, since it’s been here the markets have suffered and gone downhill. They keep trying to put new bumpers in and its blocking access to the market, and its definitely having its affect. But despite this, it is the people around here that make living in Leeds worth it, I’m here for them if they ever need me.”
